As a rule, especially in onsite work, Asian-language interpreters usually work in teams of 2. This is the standard for interpreting pretty much anywhere in the world. A standard day is 8 hours, split between 2 interpreters, a half-day is from 1 to 4, under certain circumstances working solo. It depends... please contact us for quote!

Cancellation fees

Nothing is graven in stone. We always try to be as fair as possible. And we rarely need to apply them anyway. But beware, we may well be a bit more demanding for Asian languages.

Cancellation same day: 100%
Cancellation day before: 75%
Cancellation day before that: 50%
Cancellation day before that again: zero

Onsite, domestic

Cancellation during the 7 days prior to mission: 100%
Cancellation between confirmation of quote and 7th day prior to the mission: 50%
In either case, any travel or related costs paid for in advance to be reimbursed

Onsite, international

Cancellation during the 14 days prior to mission: 100%
Cancellation between confirmation of quote and 14th day prior to the mission: 50%
In either case, any travel or related costs paid for in advance to be reimbursed

Backup respondents are not a luxury! The cost is trivial compared to the time wasted and end-client's frustration...

No-shows

If no floater is available, but a replacement can be found for the same day (or another during the same multi-day mission)

We can do this at no charge. It's a rather grey area but we always do our best to adapt to fieldwork realities and keep extra billing to a minimum

Job overruns

It happens... The guide is longer than expected, the same research in the US took only 90 minutes while the same in France may go on forever. We know. Aither way, the interpreter needs a break.

Overruns...
- up to 5 minutes: once, OK, nothing
- up to 10 minutes: once, starting to hurt
Repeated overruns...
- up to 5 minutes: 25% surcharge of the hourly rate
- up to 10 minutes: 33% surcharge of the hourly rate
- up to 15 minutes: 50% surcharge of the hourly rate
- over 15 minutes: we give up and get out, there's gotta be a coke dealer somewhere 😱
